Lazy Daisy Stitch

The lazy daisy stitch is a simple, looped embroidery stitch used to form petal- or leaf-shaped motifs. To make it: bring the needle up at the starting point, insert it back down a short distance away but leave the thread looped on the surface, then bring the needle up again through the first point or slightly inside the loop and catch the loop with a small anchoring stitch (a tiny straight stitch) to secure it. Adjust loop size for different petal shapes, and use evenly spaced anchoring stitches for neatness. It’s ideal for floral designs, borders, and filling small areas, and works well with stranded cotton or embroidery floss.  Repeating Lazy daisy stitch can make chain stitch.
